Appomattox Civil War Collectible – With 1865 Two-Cent Coin NSAP3251

“Union. Victory. Peace!” With those words The New York Times headlines reported the end of the Civil War on April 10, 1865. Now, 145 years later, commemorate the historic event with this historic keepsake.

This showpiece comes with an actual two-cent piece from 1865. These unusual American coins, the first to bear the words “In God We Trust,” were minted for only 10 years and were made of 95 percent copper.

This collectible displays portraits of Gen. Robert E. Lee and Gen. Ulysses S. Grant over a reprint of The Times’s front page about the Confederate Army's surrender at Appomattox, Va. Canceled, often historic, Civil War postage stamps surround the two-cent coin. For a closer look at the coin, click here.

Frame, with wood finish, measures 16" x 18". Includes a certificate of authenticity, historical information on two-cent coins and a reprint of The Times’s article on the end of the war. Each coin is in Fine condition or better.
